The Dos Maderas range is a blend of rums from Barbados and Guyana, home to the very best sugar cane and rums of the highest prestige; those from Barbados smooth and light with a refined bouquet and taste, whilst those from Guyana have more body which makes them perfect for blending with others in order to enhance the final product. Ageing in oak casks and the skill of the Rum Masters have earned them well deserved fame throughout the world.
This perfect blend of rums rests for ten years in the Caribbean prior to being shipped to the Williams & Humbert facilities in Jerez de la Frontera, one of the largest wineries in Europe. There awaits a tranquil silence and the know-how and traditions acquired from over a century of experience in the production and maturing of sherry and "Brandy de Jerez".
These rums then complete the final stages in the development of their unique, grandiose personality inside American oak-wood casks which have previously contained the internationally renowned sherries "Dos Cortados" and "Don Guido" - each aged for over 20 years as certified by the Regulating Council Jerez-Xérès-Sherry - which provide incomparable flavours and aromas to each of the three different varieties.Characteristic double-ageing
After being aged for five years in the Caribbean, Dos Maderas 5+3 is then aged for a further three years in casks which have previously aged the palo cortado "Dos Cortados", a sherry of great complexity which combines the delicate bouquet of an amontillado with the full body of an oloroso on the palate. Dos Maderas PX then adds to these two stages of ageing a further stage in casks which have previously aged "Don Guido", a Pedro Ximénez sherry of extremely rich bouquet, velvety and smooth on the palate. Dos Maderas Luxus is a more mature version of PX which is first aged for ten years in the Caribbean prior to being shipped to Jerez.
Raw material of optimum quality and unique ageing process mean that when we speak of the Dos Maderas range we refer to rums of the very highest category. We only have to imagine for a moment the subtle, delicate touches provided by those American oak-wood casks which have, for over two decades, nurtured wines of a tradition and culture that reach back over a thousand years. A process which is closely monitored by the expert eyes and skiful hands of a sherry company such as Williams & Humbert which has been producing sherry and Brandy de Jerez for over 130 years and which currently exports its brans to over 75 differents counties around the world.
